Plum Lyon Teaching Kitchen welcomes guests into the heart of French culinary life in Lyon:  the gastronomic capital of France. Nestled in the historic Croix-Rousse district, once home to the city’s silk workers and now a UNESCO World Heritage site, Plum offers an authentic and personal approach to learning French cuisine in English.

Since 2007, Lucy Vanel has welcomed cooks from around the world to her kitchen for hands-on Market Table and French Pastry workshops. A French-certified pâtissière through l’Académie de Lyon, Lucy bridges French and American culinary traditions with warmth, rigor, and creativity. Her teaching style reflects 18 years of devotion to teaching about seasonality and craftsmanship in French cuisine, and the universal joy of sharing a table.

In 2024, Plum Lyon Teaching Kitchen entered its next chapter, focusing on immersive five-day workshops that invite time, mastery, and connection at the heart of French and Lyonnaise cuisine. These in-depth programs, beginning in December of 2024, complement a lifetime project of welcoming cooks who seek a deeper understanding of France’s culinary arts and French regional traditions.
